Piecework past midnight. Rowed the trireme safely to port, then slept in.
The universe appears to be conspiring to keep me from the dawns.
The West is corrupt, the East is in darkness. And any given fellow in the New World is expendable. Find the artifacts of wisdom and knowledge from a century ago. Focus your mind upon them. Travel as one who understands, not one who hurtles through the world with rumbling luggage. Else, you're simply a part of something you're keepng yourself from understanding. Don't trust the universities -- visit Christminster, admire the statures in the evenings, use the libraries, but the ways of the people of those places are not what will help you to understand things. They exist such as they are to perpetuate the place. And their present form is quite strange indeed. Use the places. Sufficient written knowledge exists to help you understand things, and one aspect of the present social order is that texts are ubiquitous. Find those texts among the manifold, and use them. Tolle and lege. Quoniam advesperacit.
And return to the dawns.
