A few days after I arrived here, there was an absolutely spectacular thunderstorm over the mountains -- it lasted for over an hour, and there were almost constant lightning strikes up and down the range. On certain occasions, nature seems to make itself known to us, which is to say that despite our lack of perception, we eventually realize what's there.
