 Brilliant short note from Chas. Peirce to Wm. James -- Peirce was at his place far in the country, where he worked and thought in absolutely penniless monastic seclusion with his French wife, near Port Jervis, I think.  He mentions to James that he remembered that James's brother "Harry" had talked about writing novels, and asked James to send him one.  James's reply: " I will send you a copy of my brother's Golden Bowl, which is the most elaborate thing in his "third manner.""  (Also to be sent: H.G.
