It's odd that there's some cognitive dissonance in the proposition that a fellow with a few advanced degrees who might have taken a hit or two because he objected to some corruption in the system is also a fairly convinced practicing Catholic. Given the alignment of the culture, that's arguably one of the most likely scenarios.
