Every moment in your life, no matter what the condiditions, is a point towards which, at some other point in your life, you will direct your care and will -- perhaps wanting it to recur, perhaps thinking it the source of meaning (or perhaps one to which in the past, you have directed your mind). Perhaps our life consists of these tensions between these points. In which case, mindfulness would seem to counsel that the point that is the object should attempt to be conscious of the point of the subject of attention and will, and the finitude it implies.
